The Coming Light: Three paintings which explore the power of light over darkness.

Courtship: Jan uses wires, mesh, seeds and color to show the magnetic pull of love from conception to eternity.

Incarnation: Jan explores the process of life forming in a "womb-like" space embodied between glass plates ( "Shelter in the Storm", "Knit in the Depths", and "Homing".

Mixed Media: "Waves of Mercy", "The Gift", "Mary's Womb", "Getting Through It", "Hanging by a Thread", and "Incarnation".

Paintings: "Annunciation", "Boats at Rest", "Chaired Professor", "Hope", "Just the Three of Us", and "Under the Shadow".

Solar Prints: This is a series of six prints following the Coming Light motif; #1 and #2 are shown.

Wounds of Love: Triptych of "Death", "Burial", and "Resurrection".

Who is Jan Florence Garven?

Jan Florence Garven is an artist who specializes in mixed media. She often combines metal, wax, string, seeds or netting and screening materials to convey conceptual images.
Jan received her undergraduate education in music at the University of Illinois. Over the years, Jan's artistic expression evolved toward visual art.
